North West France Cooperative
Amélis is situated in the north west of France in the Normandy and Brittany areas. It is made up of 3 local AI cooperatives called AGIRE, CIA CREHEN and CEIAM Mayenne.
Amélis was formed in 2004, grouping three member-owned cooperatives involved in the cattle, pig and horse industries in the north west of France. With 600,000 cows inseminated, Amélis is a French leader in providing high genetic bulls to French breeders, plus reproduction service solutions to their 18,000 members.
Amélis has 18,000 active members, all of whom are dairy farmers. Anuually, Amélis samples 100 Holstein sires with a focus on protein, functional type, daughter fertility and somatic cell count score. This has resulted in world-class sires such as Fatal, Dombinator and Heldostar. This top site lineup has helped to make Amélis a French leader in this field.
Additionally, Amélis is involved in the French pig and equine industires, providing superior genetics and reproduction services.
